Haircut?

This is The Daily Bone and we’re your hirsute doggie hosts Chester L. W. Spaniel
and Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel.

We have been informed that we need haircuts. Yes you heard it right! Our ghostwriter is calling us floppy moppy ragamuffins! Here we thought we were all set to deal with the bitterly cold weather in our shaggy winter coats. But after tracking all sorts of dirt and snowballs into the house that got stuck to our fur, our ghostwriter finally decided we should make an appointment with Miss Jacquie for a buzz cut. Well, I guess I can kind of sympathize. The other day I came in with a frozen piece of doggie poop wedged into the fur at the bottom of my foot.

I was just getting used to my new rock star hair do!

So we doggies decided to ask some our guest reporters what they think of this.

Maddie Cat says, “why would you want to go outside in the first place?”

Miss Charlee Puppy from Florida says, “what the heck is snow?”

Well, we don’t actually have an official appointment with Miss Jacquie yet.
Joey says he’s not going to lose any sleep over this.

Well, I guess that's OK. Why worry about it?

On another subject, here are some pictures of the full moon last night
through the clouds and tree branches.

The bright spot on the left is a planet; probably Jupiter or Saturn.

I wonder if Princess Leah was watching too?

Chilly Monday

Hello. This is The Daily Bone and I’m your robust doggie correspondent Chester L. W. Spaniel.

Before I begin my report, I wanted you all to know my ghostwriter made it home from work OK last night. She said if she had gotten out just ten or fifteen minutes later, it would have been a hellish drive. Just as she got to within a couple miles from our house, it started snowing heavily. The blasting wind whipped it into white-out conditions, and the roads were quickly getting covered with snow and ice. But she made it home!

Today it’s very cold and windy. There was a big white plastic bag stuck in our neighbor’s garden that kept flapping in the wind, causing me continuous confusion, concern, and consternation whenever I went out: bark bark bark! It’s a UFO (unidentified flapping object) and it’s bark bark bark bark bark flapping in the wind! Bark bark bark bark bark bark!

Oh look! Dad picked up that nasty flapping bag! It's safe to go out again!

Now I can play with the tennis ball without the distraction of that annoying flapping bag! Hooray!

And a good time was had by all!

Soggy Sunday

Good day everyone. This is The Daily Bone and I’m your soggy doggie host
Chester L. W. Spaniel.

Our weather is being weird as usual. Today it is 55 degrees! It’s been raining and it’s real windy. There are puddles all over the yard but it’s not too muddy because the ground underneath is still frozen.

Water is running out of the drainpipe. I can smell old mousie tracks along the side of the house.

My ghostwriter wasn't too happy about my muddy feet. But I don’t think that’s what she’s really worried about. It’s supposed to get very cold tonight and there will be snow. She has to work until 11:30pm. She hopes she doesn’t have to drive home on unplowed roads in the middle of the night in the snow and wind. Or maybe the night shift won’t be able to make it to work and she’ll get stuck there. Or maybe she’ll be able to go home, but her car will be encased in ice! Ice storms are terrible! Branches and trees fall down over the roads and the power goes off.

Don’t worry Ghostwriter. I’ll be waiting for you when you get home! I promise I’ll wake up and greet you no matter what time you get home!

Snorrrrrrrrrrrrrrk.

Cold Day at the Beach

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, doggies and kitties. This is The Daily Bone
and I'm your pertinacious doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

Tonight we have a featured report by our savvy guest correspondent Maddie Cat.

Meow and hello. My Joanna human is nuts. Why? Because she willfully left the warmth of our home to go out to Hamlin Beach on the shores of Lake Ontario on a cold winter day. I honestly cannot understand why someone would do that when her time could be better spent in my presence! Well anyway, this is what she saw:

A bleak beach.
Millions of zebra mussel shells.

A big flock of silly geese. These were not the fat, waddling mall geese that block traffic and poop all over parking lots. These were wild Canada geese that stayed far away from the camera.

Doggie foot prints.
A strange species of turtle.
Dead leaves and sticks.
An unfortunate loon.
A toy truck.
Lots and lots of freezing cold water and sand.

Again, why she would go there instead of stay at home with me, is beyond reason!

Thank you Maddie Cat. What I can't understand is why she didn't take you along!
