Winter Time

Greetings friends and fans. This is The Daily Bone, Princess Edition, and we're your doggie reporters Rosie and Baby Spaniel.

Sorry we've been gone for so long. As long-time readers would know, our dad had a stroke and is now recovering in a nursing home. He still can't move his left arm and needs lots of help with things. Our ghostwriter goes to see him almost every day, and brings us along once a week. We're starting to get used to riding in the car now. Besides visiting dad, we are gradually meeting the staff and some of the other residents there. (Some of the little old ladies just love seeing us!)

So today we're snowed in and not going anywhere. We girls love zooming around in the snow, and sticking our noses under it. We even think it tastes delicious!

Yesterday afternoon, we heard and saw a couple of big, noisy monster machines go past our house.

We are very brave, and barked as much as we could at these, and managed to make them go away.

Our ghostwriter said we were a little too loud. Those snow plows were doing a good job clearing the snow from the road and sidewalk so people could get around. She was reminded of a post by our angels Chester and Joey regarding snow plows, and placed a link to that post below.

Later on that day, we saw a squirrel sitting in the pear tree, looking very humble and hungry.

In a few minutes, he jumped onto the birdie feeder that's in the window. We girlies have never seen a squirrel up this close! We almost thought he looked kind of cute.

However, he soon began a tirade that was both rude and insulting:

"Hey, where's dog face? Huh? He promised my grandfather a peanut butter sandwich years ago, and we still haven't got it. With interest, you mangy mutts owe me over ten thousand peanut butter sandwiches! You'd better pay up, or else!"

We rushed outside to give him a good chase, but found he'd already gone. Dumb squirrel! Well, he can't be too hungry. Just a few days ago we saw him and his entire family gobble up the last of the hawthorn berries from the tree.

Now the birdies won't have any hawthorn berries to eat! Mr. Cardinal agreed that those squirrels were greedy gluttons!

Here's the link to Chester and Joey's post about the snow plow:

Unfortunately, the original video that went with it was gone. So here's a link to the song:

  2. Hi there Princesses, it's so good to see you back. Gail and I send very best wishes to ghostwriter and your dad. Gail says she knows that these big changes in their lives will have been difficult, in different ways, for both.
I know that appearances can be deceptive and it's always a mistake to think a tree rat is cute...

  4. It's good to hear from you girls. We've been enjoying all the snow too and you two did a great job barking at the snow plows. Our paws are crossed that your dad will be able to come home soon.

  5. Rosie and Baby and GW I truly thank you for the update on your Dad. I am so very thankful you two are able to go with GW to visit Dad. I know it makes him happy to see your sweet faces. OMDs and all the smiles you are putting on the faces of the other residents. Well done taking on the challenge of riding in the car. You are brave Princesses. It appears Joey and Chester, left instructions all in and around the air in you home that come down as needed. How to intimidate plows and tree rat floated down just at the right time. Tell GW hi and gave Dad and the other residents extra sweet smiles on your next visit.
    Hugs Cecilia

  6. Glad you get to see your dad/person. That has to make his week and everyone else's there.
They have all kinds of new ways to get your dad's everything working again , don't forget he is working hard on his side, so make sure to give him lots and lots of kisses. He wants to come home to be with all his girls so badly. You guys all are keeping him working hard to do what he needs to , to get home.
Bless you all , it is tough on everyone concerned. Don't worry the therapists know what to do to help his muscles get their signals back from the brain. New things are happening all the time to make it possible. Hugs to your mom. Go ahead and cry, it helps to relieve the built up anxiety. And bark with the girls at the big ol' noisy machines outside. :)

  7. So very god to see you two. You sure are growing up fast. we are so sorry about your Dad and hope he can come home one day soon. We had a lot of snow too, but it was hard to enjoy with the frigid temps we had. We won't complain too much, because we do like our snow
