Waiting Again

Hello everybody. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your chilly doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

I'm out in my back yard standing in the snow from Winter Storm Harper. It's all crusty from being repeatedly melted and refrozen.

But now I hear yet another gigantic terrible end-of-the-world(again) storm coming our way. This time it's going to bring bone-chilling cold from the sinister polar vortex. Doesn't that sound scary?

It kind of fills you with ominous foreboding. But then I found out it has a name: Winter Storm Jaden! Wow! Doesn't that take all the terror out of it?

Harumph!

Well, I won't make light of it. I hope everyone in its path stays warm and safe. Fortunately I still have my heavy winter coat on. Ghostwriter and Dad have been hinting about me going to see my groomer, Miss Jacquie. But I'm pretty sure they'll wait for the weather to warm up a bit.

Meanwhile, I proceeded to do an inspection of my yard. There seem to be a lot of branches down.

I went over to the Sparrows Inc. Winter Lodge in the Sticks. Nobody was home.

Ghostwriter says that later today she's going to go out and get some birdie seeds to fill up the feeders before the fearsome storm hits.  Then she's going to pick up all the fallen branches and add them to the Lodge. That should entice the birdies to take shelter there.

The Daily Bone will be following the storm for the next few days. Please check back for updates.

And now it's nap time!

The Other Coast

Oh, and to our Blogville friends: Ghostwriter just got done with a 5-day stretch of work. She said she ran non-stop the entire time because all the little old people were getting sick with colds, and a few developed pneumonia. She has three days off now, and will go back and read all of your bloggies that she might have missed lately.

  1. Chester that is such a good idea to fill up the feeders and add to the Winter Lodge in the Sticks to help the birdies through this upcoming cold spell. We're glad you still have a thick winter coat to keep you warm. Stay safe friend.

  2. Doing a great job. There really is a great deal to do to keep up with the yard inspections isn't there? There are two of us and we always find something new.

  3. Mom keeps threatening me with groomies too, Chester, but she's really trying to wait till this nasty bitter cold stays gone. Stay safe and warm!

  4. Oh geeeeeez Chester I think we have the same weather geeks here that you have up there. Madi dad calls one of them Mr. Doom and Gloom. But we do know you are all having horribly cold weather and we hope and prayer all can stay sheltered from the cold. GW is devoted RN and we thank her for looking after the elderly BUT are really glad she is off for 3 days.

  6. It's supposed to be minus 25 in the morning in Chicagoland. Both my husband and my work places are closed tomorrow so people don''t have to travel in it. We're doing waffles, homemade soup for lunch and meatloaf and garlic bread for dinner.

I will probably get 87 pieces of nasty dry crap.

  9. We are all hunkered down here as the cold blast is upon us. Mom won't let us stay out for more than five minutes. And all we want is to be outside!!! Seriously it IS a dangerous bit of weather. We hope all our pals will stay safe and warm.

  10. How bad could Jaden be. It sounds like someone on the debate team. But I agree you have to take it seriously. Praying you don't get snowed in.

  11. I've been hearin' on the teevees abouts all the nasty cold weathers in your part of the woods, and it sounds skeery to me! YOu keeps inside where it's nice and warm, and I hopes your peeps stay nice and warm too. Give Ghostwriter lots of snuggles and hugs from me, k?
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥

  13. Yeah, somehow da name Jaden doesn't sound so threatening. Momma says back when they were calling em Snowpacalypse and Snowmaggedon sounded scarier.

  14. Hi hi hi! Ojo here! We hope Jaden is a polite winter storm guest, and leaves you lots of soft snow (none of that yucky crusty stuff!), and also leaves your power on and doesn't knock down too many branches!

  15. The Snuffle Mat doesn't have squeakers, Chester. Just lots of woolly curls to hide small treats or your kibble.

  16. This Jaden is a meanie, indeed. We only go out to do our privacy pawlease and scamper right back inside. Its supposed to go down to -17F here overnight, maybe even colder. And wind chills in the -40's. Brrr. Global warming?? Bring it on! BOL! We have not seen any squirrel dudes, but the birds are flocking in droves to our feeders. They go through sunflower seeds and peanuts the fastest.

Stay warm! We hope your GW doens't get sick from all the extra hours she is putting in...
