Greetings ardent readers! This is The Daily Bone and I'm your steadfast doggie reporter
Chester L. W. Spaniel.
I am standing in the back yard, and as you can see, it's quite sunny out. But don't let that sunshine fool you. It's 2º and the wind is whipping through at way below zero. Here are some pictures from yesterday when the storm finally rolled in at mid day.
We didn't actually get too much snow in our area south of Rochester. Sometimes the storms coming off the Great Lakes dump most of their snow on Buffalo and run out by the time they reach us. But we did get the cold temperatures and high winds, making it very dangerous to drive or be outdoors.
It was a good thing we filled up all the birdie feeders. These birdies were very happy to get a good meal. Sid Starling wasn't picky, and ate a variety of suet, seeds, and bread bits.
The little nuthatches enjoyed the suet the most.
I checked out the Sparrows Incorporated Winter Lodge in the Sticks. There were dozens of sparrows in there. They didn't even fly away when I got near. In fact, a few of them came out and sat on the sticks and fence to greet me! They were very grateful for the food and lodging. Mr. Mortimer Seedcruncher III, CEO of Sparrows Inc. requested that we put out some more bits of bread in the window feeder.
OK Mr. Seedcruncher. I'm heading inside now to tell ghostwriter.
Our Uncle John, who lives in Tonawanda, took some nice pictures of the Niagara River. He's a great photographer! He and ghostwriter remember when they were kids growing up. They would go for a big walk by Niagara Falls to see the ice, and they didn't care how cold it was!
Don't worry about me being out in the cold. I only stay out for a few minutes.
And then I go in and take a nap. I hope everybody in the path of that storm is safe and warm now.
We thank you and your photographer for going out in such horrible weather so we can see how cold it is for you. Now get in and stay warm.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update Chester! I am glads it wasn't too bad (except for the cold brrrrrr) and you and your peeps are safe and warm. High paw to your Moms for fillin' the feeders so the burdies can have snacks. very impawtent fursure!
ReplyDeleteStay safe my pal!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
Yup, just like around here, we do our privacy pawlease in about 2 seconds...and we try to keep our paws off the ground while we are out there, that white stuff is SO cold. We were -19F this morning. Brrr. Don't even ask what the wind chill was.
ReplyDeleteThose pictures of the river and all the coldness there are impressive. Niagara Falls on a cold winter day is spectacular, with all the ice and frozen mists.
The birds here too are eating up seeds and suet cakes very quickly. Pipo loves to chatter at them:)
Your pictures are so beautiful, Chester, and we can feel that chill right to our bones! Stay safe and warm!
ReplyDeleteI love your snowy-cold pictures, you're so handsome in the snow! Your post reminds me that I need to go out and shake our feeders and put out seed for our feathered friends. Friends of Sid Starling really made a mess here yesterday.
ReplyDeleteStay warm, and I hope you have a good weekend! And by the way, the sun fooled me yesterday too.
Take care!
It sure has been a nasty few days here Chester. We're glad to see you are doing well despite the cold. We have only been out to do our "business" and then right back inside. At least the wind isn't as bad today.
ReplyDeleteChester not only are you an Ace reporter you are an excellent Weather man and photographer.
ReplyDeleteNiagara River was very interesting. Even down here where we have had balmy breezes making our temp about 30ish during the day...LOL the birds have been very thankful for easy access to suet and seed
Hugs Cecilia
Your fluffy furs look like they can keep you toasty warm, C. Mom bundles us both up. My furs are useless for warmth.
ReplyDeleteLove and licks,
Cupcake
You probably saved a lot of little birdies by leaving seed out for them. Those pictures are incredible and I am cold just looking at them!
ReplyDeleteThe warmup hit here today, and instead of ice and cold we have MUD. Mom is not happy about the mud at all. We think you will be getting warmer tomorrow too.
ReplyDeleteWoos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber
we are to have rain tomorrow and then turn cold again.
ReplyDeletekeep warm!!
hugs
Hazel & Mabel
That is some wicked weather. We don't think we would like that very much :(
ReplyDeleteWe are ready for spring. Your birdies are happy for your feeders. Y'all stay safe and warm.
Love,
Wyatt and Tegan
Hope you are keeping warm.
ReplyDeleteHi hi hi! Ojo here! Your snow looks lovely, but that is Too Cold! I am glad you had a warm couch for sleeping on! Not all Dogs have that... We are very lucky.
