Remember the log pile? My colleague Joseph (Joey dog) Stephens and I have been keeping a close watch on it for the past few weeks. We suspected there were chipmunks living under it. More than once, we intercepted their codified transmissions emanating from that site. The log pile was also rife with their scent! We've been determined to evict them—they never once paid rent—but it's tough to get under there. Talk about freeloaders!
However, after dinner and a nice long nap, we resumed our outdoor surveillance and made a surprising discovery. Almost all of the logs were gone! What the heck? Upon further examination, we found that one of our humans had cut the logs into smaller units and placed them into a nice neat stack.
This new, more compact arrangement of logs would be unsuitable for chipmunk habitation. Hooray! Well that’s one less job to do.
Whew! That’s a relief! Now we have some time to watch some videos about chipmunks. It’s always a good idea to learn as much as you can about your opponents. And that's a memo.
