Brave Birdie and Evil Squirrels

Greetings from the first day of 2018! This is The Daily Bone and I'm your steadfast doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

It was another gelid winter day, with polar temperatures, bright sun, and blowing snow. The birdies were very hungry today. We watched them zooming back and forth between the window box birdie feeder and their Clubhouse in the sticks.

I usually don't bark at the birdies. But then this big starling guy showed up.

Hi.

He proceeded to stuff himself with fatty goodness from the suet cakes.

Well, that's what they're there for! The little birdies never seem too interested in the suet.

I got kind of antsy because I thought he looked a bit like a grackle, which I'm allowed to bark at,
and even chase.

But he just gave me the stink-eye and then paid no attention to me, even when I barked. He  must have been very hungry because he just kept on eating!

Hey, wait a minute! Is that a squirrel I see over there? You know I can't sit here and let that tree rat snarf up the birdie seeds!

But check this out: I zoomed out, and the starling didn't even budge!

In fact, he invited his friend the cowbird to join him!

Hey, there's good eats here!

I guess he finally ate his fill, because he suddenly just up and left!

See ya later, dude!

But that wasn't the end of my work day. That evil squirrel came back several times.

Nyah, nyah!

Get lost birdies! Squirrels rule!

That's what you think!

And stay out!

Harumph!

The Evil Squirrel Cartel was getting rather bold. Here's a story about one invading a
lady's house in Brockport!

What is this world coming to where squirrels attack police officers?!

Oh, and don't forget to look for the super moon tonight!

Peace out.

  1. You sure had a busy day to start the new year Chester. We saw the video of the squirrel jumping on the police officer. That sure would have been exciting if it were in our house but we don't think our pawrents would like it. Have a Happy New Year. Stay warm too.

  2. That moon is out here now, Chester, and Mom doesn't understand why we want to stay out in full view of it:)

Those birdies are very brave - we don't understand why they aren't just frozen.

  4. It is hardd to scare things that can fly away. Squirrels scare everyone because they have bad attitudes.
