First Day Of October

Hello everybody. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your earnest doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

It seems that after that hot, dry summer, autumn is running late in Western NY. The trees haven't turned colors much yet. It's been cooler outside, and we've had two days of rain. We went out this morning to see what we could find.

Hawthorn berries are not red yet.

Hydrangeas.

Stomping through the chives.

Lichen.

Sniffing the woodpile.

Yummy tomatoes.

One yellow pear leaf.

Salvias.

Rose.

Raining again.

Well, we needed that rain! But ghostwriter was still determined to get one more colorful picture. Against my better judgement, she went outside in the rain without ME!

 Awoooo-wooooo-woooo!

But here is what she saw:

Wow, that's pretty cool!

But we could have done this:

  6. What a pretty rainbow! We had to put our tomato patio pot on the compost...too wet and cool here, it started to rot...but furst we rescued any viable tomatoes to ripen on the windowsill.
Its been really wet and soggy here too.

Your garden still has lots of interesting and purty offerings to peruse.

  7. We love your pictures, and we are jealous because I don't think we are going to get many more red tomatoes.

  8. We sure are happy for the rain but agree that it seems that fall is a bit late coming this year.

  9. Dear Chester,

Our weather is doing the same thing - rain, then not-rain, then rainbows, and all sorts of other crazy things! Also it is October here too! (I don't know what that means, but it's cool that it's also the same for both of us!)

    Cobi
