Saturday Report

Greetings fellow doggie bloggers, friends, fans, and kitties too! This is The Daily Bone and I’m your investigative doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel. Today I’m doing a series of short pieces.

Squeaky Toy Ploy

Thursday night I thought of a scheme to keep my ghostwriter from going to work. I found as many of my squeaky balls as I could, and placed them strategically on the floor by the front door, where she keeps her work shoes. I thought that when she sees all of them, she’d be so delighted that she’d stay home and play with them instead of going to work. However, she left for work so early Friday morning that we doggies didn’t even wake up. The squeaky balls were left untouched. Drat!

Mousie Mob Takes a Hit

As you know, Autumn is here, and it’s getting cold out. My esteemed colleague Joseph (Joey dog) Stephens and I have been suspecting the Miscellaneous Mousie Mob has been carrying covert invasions in our garage. Our humans found evidence—chewed up peanut shells and mousie poops on the storage shelf behind the dry goods. So they set up a few traps. Sure enough, a mousie was caught right away!

Saturday Sleepies

Saturday morning is a special time. If you’re a kid, you get up early and watch cartoons. If you’re Dad, you get up early and watch the news. If you’re doggies, you disregard your silly humans and sleep in!

TV for Cats

Our kitty cat correspondent Maddie Cat reports that there are lots of great videos available exclusively for cats. They usually feature birds or fish. It helps to pass the time when humans are at work or otherwise unavailable. Here is an example:

Mud Slinging
2014 elections are in full swing. You surely have noticed all the mud slinging that is going on as each candidate tries to trash the other. This year I decided not to run for office. It’s a good thing because my ghostwriter has figured out a plan to stop me from accessing the mud in my back yard. She has raked up tons of leaves and piled them in the corner of the yard by the compost heap, an area usually prone to mud. We'll see how that works.

Hopefully by the time 2016 rolls around, people will be sick and tired of mud, and our leaders will be chosen by their merits rather than being the ones who have thrown the most mud at their opponents!

Chester for President in 2016! No mud slinging!

Canada Goose Migration

Squadrons of flying geese have been spotted in the skies of Western NY. This often occurs early in the morning or at dusk. However, it is known that geese often hang around in this area until January if there is no heavy snow, and ponds are not completely frozen over.

Fall Colors

The trees in our yard have been putting on an amazing display of colors this year! Now they’re about half way done with dropping their leaves.

We've also been enjoying some spectacular sunsets!

Uh oh … That concludes today’s edition of The Daily Bone. Gotta run!

  10. Such beautiful colours. Lovely pics, LUVS 'EM :-)
No mice around in here, Frankie de tabby used to bring them in and let them go. Luckily he is getting a bit slow in his old age, used to take us hours sometimes before we could get them out of the front door in one piece to live another day. :-) x

  12. Great Saturday reading there...even if I didn't get a chance to read it till Sunday, Sheesh! BOL!

We have geese honking past too, and yes the colors are furry lovely this fall. Too bad it makes fur so much work when they all fall down...though rustling through them is kind of fun!
